CHOICE OF MEDICAL PROFESSION-PASSION OR PRESSURE: MEDICAL STUDENTS PERSPECTIVES

Objective: Medical profession is one of the most aspired career option among school students and parents. Though may look so lucrative charming, needs to be committed a lot become successful doctor. Passion interest towards will determining practitioner. But there many external influences in student’s life choose this career. This study was conducted with objective understand factors that influenced MBBS Methods: An analytical cross-sectional 1060 throughout India. A self-designed questionnaire which contained questions related why they selected prepared validated experts field converted into google forms circulated all medical colleges India through social media platform. Results: majority (60.4%) mentioned passion serve as main reason, nearly one-fourth (25.8%) have opted for status, job opportunity, good remuneration lifestyle. Nearly one-third (32%) regretted joining profession. Regarding plan after MBBS, them (59.2%) preferred speciality practice. Clinical subjects were Postgraduation. Conclusion: common reason coming career, parental few other also found reasons choosing some students.
